IG Punjab Modifies Police Uniforms for Recognition System

The Inspector General (IG) Punjab has made a significant decision to modify the uniforms of police personnel, with the objective of implementing a recognition system based on years of service. Additional IG Rifaat Mukhtar, on behalf of the IG Punjab, has issued a letter outlining the new uniform guidelines.

Blue Stripes to Represent Years of Service

According to the letter, police officials who have completed 10 years of service will now have a single blue stripe incorporated into their uniforms. Similarly, those who have served for 20 years will wear two blue stripes, and officials with 30 years of service will display three blue stripes. These blue stripes serve as a visible indication of the extensive experience accumulated by the police personnel.

Headscarf Mandatory for Female Personnel

In addition to the changes related to years of service, Punjab Police has emphasized that the headscarf is now mandatory for all female personnel. This directive has been communicated through the same letter, which has been distributed to various high-ranking officers including the CCPO Lahore, Commandant Punjab Constabulary, RPOs, DPOs, and SSP Motor Transport.

The primary goal of this modified uniform system is to enhance the recognition and respect for the police personnel. The incorporation of visible symbols denoting years of service allows the public and fellow officers to acknowledge the dedication and experience of these individuals.
