In the second ODI, South Africa defeated Pakistan by 17 runs to tie the series 1-1.
South Africa gave Pakistan a target of 342 runs in response to which Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman started the game for the national team.
After losing 2 wickets in the beginning of Pakistan, the batting line of the national team faltered and Mohammad Rizwan, Danish Aziz returned to the pavilion with 9 runs, while Shadab Khan also became LBW on the ball of Tabriz Shamsi after scoring 13 runs. Later, Asif Ali scored 19 runs and Faheem Ashraf 11 runs.
After that, Kagiso Rabada bowled Shaheen Afridi for 5 runs to show the way to the pavilion while Fakhr Zaman played a memorable innings of 193 runs after which he was run out, thus South Africa defeated Pakistan by 17 runs in the series. 1-1.
For South Africa, Enrich Norje got three wickets; Phelo Kwaiu got two wickets while Rabada Nagidi and Shamsi got one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. Quentin de Kock and Aiden Markram started the innings for the hosts. The two openers put on a 55-run partnership but Markram was dismissed for 39 while Quentin D was dismissed. Cook played an innings of 80 runs. One-down captain Temba Bauma and Van Der Dawson put on a 101-run partnership, Van Der Dawson played an aggressive 60-run innings and was dismissed, David Miller played aggressively and scored a half-century while captain Temba scored. He scored 92 runs which helped the South African team to score 341 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
For Pakistan, Haris Rauf took three wickets while Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each. It should be noted that in the first match of the three-match ODI series, the national team had defeated South Africa by 3 wickets after a thrilling contest, after which the national team had a 1-0 lead in the series. The latter series is equal to one.
