Pak Suzuki Records 8th Consecutive Quarter With Huge Losses

Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited, the largest player in the Pakistani automotive industry, has announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2020.

The company reported a loss of Rs. 136.38 million for the quarter, a recovery of 88.30% from the same period last year. The automaker posted a loss of Rs. 1.16 billion in the same quarter of 2019, according to a statement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday due to declining sales volumes.

However, several price increases dampened the impact.

This brings the nine month losses to Rs. 2.59 billion compared to a loss of Rs. 2.68 billion last year, a decrease of 3.40% year over year.

It’s worth noting, however, that Pak Suzuki Motors posted its eighth straight quarter as a loss.

The company posted a 12% decline in sales for the quarter at Rs. 22.60 billion compared to Rs. 25.63 billion for the same period last year. The drop in sales was due to a 24.50% year-over-year decrease in vehicle sales due to lower Alto sales and the absence of Mehran. The company sold 17,485 units compared to 23,147 units in the same period last year. This is due to the stiff completion of Kia (Picanto), United Bravo and Prince Pearl.
